I live in the beautiful East Kootenay - Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada. I teach puppy socialization and basic and advanced pet obedience classes for the City of Cranbrook Leisure Services Department, as well as offer private consultations/lessons. My classes and private lessons are based on a balanced approach which delivers clear information to help dogs learn and succeed. These classes and lessons focus on skills that provide your dog with good domestic manners based on criteria established by the 'Canine Good Neighbour' program sanctioned by the Canadian Kennel Club. The Cranbrook & District Kennel Club sometimes hosts Canine Good Neighbour evaluations where your dog can obtain certification.
For enthusiasts interested in exhibiting their dog in Canadian Kennel Club sanctioned events beyond Canine Good Neighbour, I am available for private and semi-private lessons in competition obedience, and can refer you to instructors in other performance events such as agility and rally obedience. The Canadian Kennel Club now welcomes mixed breeds to competition obedience and I'd be delighted to introduce people with mixed breeds to the sport! The Cranbrook & District Kennel Club offers annual conformation, obedience, and rally obedience shows/trials weekend. Please contact the CDKC if you are interested in further information.
I acquired my first golden retriever 20 years ago and was fortunate to have the support of the local kennel club (Cariboo Kennel Club - Williams Lake BC) and some experienced members guide me into what has become the 'post raising children' phase of my life ;) I made up for lost time by becoming a sponge for information with an endless desire to experience humility! I continue to be all of that, albeit with more wisdom, expertise and education.
I am always anxious to help when asked, and I am equally as eager to refer people to other resources when dog related issues are outside my level of expertise. I am not a canine behaviorist and my services do not include rehabilitating dogs with behavior issues.
